Virat Kohli’s batting woes have become a hot topic of discussion in the cricketing world. In the recently concluded rescheduled Test at Edgbaston, the star batter could manage just 31 runs from the two innings. In the first innings, Kohli tried to leave the ball at the last minute but couldn’t get the bat out of the way in time and the ball ricocheted off his bat and crashed onto the stumps.

He was looking good in the second innings, which saw him playing a few drives to perfection before falling prey to a ball that bounced extra, thus taking the nick and landing in the hands of Joe Root standing at slip. His century-long drought has now lasted for 2.5 years.

When asked about Kohli's string of low scores, legendary pacer Zaheer Khan said that the former skipper must be disappointed since he has set such a high standard while also stating that being in ‘Fab 4’ comes at a cost of being compared with one another constantly.

“Take any player for that matter and especially a player like Virat Kohli will surely be sad. Because he set a higher standard for himself. And the expectations that fans have for him…. Like we all know, who are the so-called fab four? Steve Smith, Joe Root, Kane Williamson, and Virat Kohli. So, whenever somebody else scores, he is also being taken note of. Even if you are also saying that ‘see, Joe Root has scored, so Virat Kohli must also score.’ So, that’s how he is being compared,” Khan was quoted as saying on Cricbuzz.

“Obviously, by his very own standards, he would like to come back to that form that we haven’t seen for some time. He was looking good in the second innings, he just got out to a very good ball.” he added.

Virat will next be seen in action on Saturday (July 9) at the Edgbaston Stadium when the ‘Men in Blue’ will take on Jos Buttler's England in the 2nd T20I.
