Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has joined the rest of his teammates in Southampton ahead of the first T20I against England, scheduled for Thursday (July 7).
Rohit, who missed the just-concluded Edgbaston Test after being tested positive for COVID-19, fine-tuned his batting skills in the nets on Wednesday (July 6).
In a video doing rounds on social media, the opening batter was seen in full flow, executing his trademark cover drives.
“The @BCCI captain has arrived ???? @ImRo45 has a net session at The Ageas Bowl, what a player ???? Let us know if you want to see more of Rohit from the nets!” the official handle of The Ageas Bowl tweeted.
Rohit Sharma is likely to lead the Indian team in the T20I series opener. On the other hand, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant will join the T20I squad from the second game onwards since they finished playing the Edgbaston Test on July 5.
The absence of aforementioned first-choice stars would give fringe players like Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson one more chance to prove their mettle.
