Former England captain Michael Vaughan has yet again found himself in hot water for making comments on Rishabh Pant after his astounding performance with the bat during the opening day of the ongoing rescheduled fifth Test between England and India on July 1 in Birmingham.
Pant came to bat at number 5, and then saw Team India slide 98/5 before showing his class with the bat by hammering the England bowlers all around the Edgbaston stadium.
The attacking batter smashed 19 fours and 4 sixes during his wonderful knock of 146 runs off 111 balls to take India to 338/7 at stumps. Pant was hailed by many for his excellent batting display against England.
Following his hammering, Vaughan took to Twitter to laud the left-hander, but according to the fans, he made the mistake of comparing the Indian star's stunning assault with Jonny Bairstow – who was the star during the England-New Zealand series recently.
Vaughan tweeted: “This is great viewing .. @RishabhPant17 doing a Jonny B.”
Well, the former England captain’s way of hailing Pant didn’t go down well with many fans and they are now reminding him that the young wicketkeeper-batter has been playing in that way for the past few years, not Bairstow.
Here are some reactions from the fans on Twitter –
