WI v BAN 2022: “Worst tour of my life”, Bangladesh players recover from seasickness ahead of first T20I

The Mahmudullah-led side was travelling via the sea to reach their destination.

Bangladesh cricket team | GettyBangladesh cricket team is having a tough time in the ongoing tour of West Indies. The visitors suffered a 2-0 defeat in the Test series and now the touring contingent has been hit by a bout of seasickness while travelling from St Lucia to Dominica, where they are slated to play the first two T20Is of the three-match series.

The Mahmudullah-led side was travelling via the sea to reach their destination but it turned out to be a horrible experience. Apparently, many of the team members have fallen seasick due to the tides striking the boat.

“I have toured many countries, this is the first time I am experiencing something like this. None of us are used to this. Forget about playing, what will happen if one of us gets seriously ill in the ferry. This is the worst tour of my life," a player was quoted as saying by local publication Prothom Alo.

Speaking to The Daily Star, BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury said they had no other option but to agree to such travel arrangements.

"We were concerned regarding the issue. But the first thing is that it is the host country that always arranges this [transportations for players from one state to another]. Still, we did show our concern about this. But the problem was that the Windies official wanted to send contingents of both sides together as it is their standard practice," he said.

T20I skipper Mahmudullah was left furious by the organisation of the tour as he was quoted as saying by the publication, telling team manager Nafees Iqbal, "Who should take the responsibility for this now? Only a few are able to stand and we are only halfway there."

Meanwhile, Iqbal has assured that the team was going to be fine as the doctor has said that the symptoms will pass away within a few hours.

The T20I series between Bangladesh and West Indies is due to get underway on July 2.
