India began their preparations for the upcoming fifth Test against England by facing off against Leicestershire in a four-day warmup game at Grace Road ground which started on June 23. This will be the only practice game India gets before the Test commences on July 1.

As known before, four of the Indian players in Rishabh Pant, Cheteshwar Pujara, Prasidh Krishna, and Jasprit Bumrah are turning out for the Leicestershire County team in order to give all the Indian players some match time out in the middle.

Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first and opened the innings with Shubman Gill. He managed to make 25 runs before he top-edged a pull shot to get out to Roman Walker.

However, during his knock, Rohit was given some discomfort by his own countrymate, as Jasprit Bumrah’s delivery hit him in the unmentionables as he missed an in-cutter from the ace Indian bowler.

At the time of writing this piece, India were 90/5 with only Rohit and Shubman (21) and Ravindra Jadeja (13) getting in double figures. Shreyas Iyer scored a duck, while Virat Kohli was batting with KS Bharat, who is keeping wickets for the Indian team in the match.
