India pacer Jasprit Bumrah gained one spot in the latest iteration of the ICC Test players’ rankings which were released on Wednesday, September 8, 2021. This came after his amazing performance in the ongoing Test series against England, especially the fourth Test at the Oval.
Bumrah picked four wickets in India’s 157-run win in Oval over England as they went 2-1 up with one match to go. His stunning spell on day five after lunch where he dismissed Ollie Pope and Jonny Bairstow by clean bowling them, helped India win the match, and resulted in him moving to the 9th spot in the ICC Test bowlers’ rankings.
Apart from Bumrah, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli gained points in the ICC Test batsmen rankings. Rohit Sharma, who scored a century (127) in the first innings of the Oval Test and got the Man of the Match award, gained 40 points but remained at the fifth spot (813 points).
Virat Kohli also gained 20 points (783 points), courtesy scores of 50 and 44 in the two innings respectively. The Indian captain remains sixth in the rankings.
Apart from this, Rishabh Pant, with 690 points, is down to 13th position while Ajinkya Rahane has also lost two places and is out of top-20. Among all-rounders, Ravindra Jadeja maintains his position at three.
