Former England captain Michael Vaughan spoke on the dreadful performance by Ajinkya Rahane this year. Rahane hasn't got runs in the ongoing Test series against England.
Apart from a half-century, India's Test vice-captain hasn't been able to score over 20 runs in any of the innings. He scored 5 runs in the first Test, followed by 1 & 61 at Lord's, 18 & 10 at Leeds, and 14 & 0 at The Oval.
Speaking on BBC’s Test Match Special podcast, Vaughan said Indian team is being very kind to Rahane and he also joked that English bowlers would be pleased to see him in the team.

“I think sometimes in this era, the selection units, management are too nice. I think England this week were absolutely delighted to see Ajinkya Rahane once again. They couldn’t believe their luck that they could get the chance. He is completely out of sorts.”
“India, whoever they pick, will do better than Ajinkya Rahane at the minute. He is frazzled. You saw that shot? He just played across a straight one. He could have been out when he left one," he said.
Rahane was the lowest run-scorer for India in the second innings of the fourth Test. Everyone, including the lower order, scored more than him on a well-suited track for batting as he was dismissed on a duck.
Vaughan believes Rahane can take some time off and make a comeback to the side later after finding his form back. “Sometimes, you are better off taking a player like that out of the kitchen. Just take him out of the heat, just for a game or two. Have a breather. It’s not the end of his career, he can come back when they go back to India. But for England, they would love to see Ajinkya Rahane taking guard again at Old Trafford," he said.
Rahane has scored only 109 runs at an average of 15.57 in seven innings, while Shardul Thakur, who batted in three innings this series, has already overtaken him with a couple of half-centuries at The Oval.
