Team India opener Rohit Sharma was showered with praises by fans and pundits for this fantastic century in the second innings of the ongoing fourth Test match against England at the Kennington Oval in London.
Former Pakistan cricketer Inzamam-Ul-Haq is one of them, as he lauded the Mumbai-based cricketer for the patience and excellent temperament showed during his maiden overseas ton.
“Rohit Sharma played a brilliant knock, he deserved this hundred. He has displayed amazing temperament throughout the series. The day belonged to Rohit Sharma. Everyone is aware that he is one of the best stroke players in the business. However, he saw off the new ball with patience and, once he got set, he started playing his shots,” Inzamam said in his latest YouTube video.

The 51-year-old then pointed out how Rohit adapted his game not only according to the English conditions but also as per the team’s needs and thus proved that he is a team man.
“The six he hit to get to a hundred demonstrated the amount of confidence he has in his ability. The stroke also demonstrated that he could have hit out earlier if he wanted but he played as per the requirements of the team,” the former Pakistan batsman said.
“Rohit Sharma adapted himself brilliantly to score his 8th Test hundred. According to me, this was the best innings of Rohit Sharma's Test career,” he added.
Inzamam then talked about the importance of KL Rahul’s 46 as the Rohit-Rahul duo carried on from their solid start in the last session on Day 2 where they ensured India end the day with all 10 wickets intact.
“KL Rahul’s 46 also cannot be ignored. Rohit Sharma and Rahul featured in a wonderful opening stand. The partnership set the base for India as they nullified the threat of the new ball, which has hurt India many times in the past,” he pointed out.

“I have said earlier as well when the openers came into bat on Day 2, they displayed the mindset to attack the England bowlers. They were keen on playing positive cricket and not going into their shell,” the right-hand batsman from Multan concluded.
As far as the fourth Test between India and England is concerned, even though the hosts had secured a 99-run lead in their first innings, the visitors managed to square off the deficit and get a 171-run lead as the scoreboard reads 270/3.
Thus, with skipper Virat Kohli (22) and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja (9) at the crease, it will be exciting to see what total India posts for this English team as the series is well poised at 1-1.
