Former England captain Michael Vaughan questioned India wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant's shot selection in the fourth Test at The Oval. Pant was dismissed after attempting a big hit off Chris Woakes.

Woakes bowled a slower delivery after Pant came down the pitch to play a lofted shot. He could only manage to connect the toe end of his bat which ended up caught at the deep mid-off by Moeen Ali. India were 127/7 when Pant got out playing a rash shot.

Speaking with Harsha Bhogle on Cricbuzz, Vaughan said Pant is a better player than the way he is getting out again and again. "Rishabh Pant's dismissal….it's now enough is enough! It can't be that that's the way he plays. He is a better player than that.

"By dancing down the wicket, he is moving his head, he can't have a base to swing. He is too good a player to be getting out in that fashion," he said on Pant who was dismissed after scoring 9 runs off 33 deliveries.

India sent Ravindra Jadeja up in the batting order in place of Ajinkya Rahane and move the vice-captain a spot down in the line-up. Vaughan termed the decision 'clever'.

"I didn't mind it tactically. I thought the England seamers were bowling so well to the right-handers. I think that was quite a clever move to bring a left-hander. It didn't work because Jadeja didn't get a big score."But for that little period with Virat Kohli and Jadeja batting, I thought it looked quite calm. And, if I was India, it's the kind of move I will be looking to do again in the second innings whatever the situation is," he said.

However, Jadeja couldn't make the opportunity count and got out after scoring 10 runs to Woakes, who bagged four wickets in the first innings. India were bowled out on 191 runs and England lost 3 wickets for 53 runs before the end of the day's play.
