After India’s embarrassing defeat in the third Test at Headingley, cricket fraternity was expecting veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s inclusion in the playing XI for the fourth Test, which got underway on Thursday (September 2) at the Oval.
However, Ashwin once again failed to get a place in the playing XI, having already missed out in the first three Tests. Fans and experts were surprised to not find the off-spinner in the side for the penultimate Test.

Amid the outrage, Ashwin’s wife Prithi Narayanan also gave a sarcastic take on his husband’s omission from the team line-up.
Taking to Twitter, Prithi posted a video, in which her daughter can be seen observing the action on the ground using a lense from the stands.
In the caption, Prithi sarcastically wrote: “Looking for @ashwinravi99”.
India skipper Virat Kohli, after England won the toss and elected to bowl first, said, "We have two changes - Ishant and Shami have niggles - Umesh and Shardul are back."
He added, "England has four left-handers, so a good match-up for Jadeja, with our seamers bowling over the wicket."
The visitors went into the Lunch break with 54/3 on the board. Rohit Sharma (11) KL Rahul (17) and Cheteshwar Pujara (4) were the batsmen dismissed in the first session while Kohli (18*) and Ravindra Jadeja (2*) were unbeaten in the middle.
