Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has seen positive signs in India skipper Virat Kohli's batting in the second innings of the ongoing third Test against England. Kohli came out to bat after India lost the opener, Rohit Sharma, on day three at Leeds.
The Indian captain ensured they don't lose any more wickets in the day and added a partnership of 99* runs with Cheteshwar Pujara before the end of the third day's play. He scored unbeaten 45 runs off 94 deliveries, while Pujara was batting on 91 not out.
Inzamam feels Kohli is slowly getting into his comfort zone and he hasn't looked so confident in the entire series till now. "I feel that Kohli has been comfortable on the crease for the first time in the series, where the ball is coming onto his bat. I now see him in a comfortable zone, his comfort levels will increase after he reaches 50," Inzamam said on his YouTube channel.
India are currently 139 runs behind England and they have posted 215/2 runs on the scoreboard. Day 4 is going to be crucial for both the teams and Inzamam said if the visitors manage to get a lead of around 150 runs, they could trouble the hosts.
"If this partnership gets even bigger, on the fifth day, if England get a target over 150, then I'm telling you that it will be very hard. These two can do it, the way they played on Day 3. England batsmen played well in the first innings against Indian bowlers, but it could be reversed in the final innings," he said.
India were bowled out for 78 runs in the first innings and Rohit Sharma was the top scorer with 19 runs. England scored 432 runs to take a lead of 354 runs in the first innings.
