India's opener KL Rahul, England captain Joe Root, and veteran fast bowler James Anderson have got their name added to the Lord's Honours Boards after the second Test. Rahul, who was adjudged Player-of-the-Match, had scored a hundred (129) in a winning cause for India.
Root also got a hundred in the first innings of the match. He scored unbeaten 180 runs and it was his fifth hundred in 10 Tests this year. Anderson bagged a five-wicket haul (5/62) in the first innings.
The official Twitter account of Lord's cricket ground posted the picture of Rahul, Root, and Anderson's name on the Honours Boards. "History now in gold ✍️ @klrahul11 , @jimmy9 and @root66 ’s performances have now been officially added to Lord’s Honours Boards. #LoveLords," they tweeted.
Earlier in the post-match presentation, Rahul had said he's ‘looking every morning’ at honours boards to see if his name has been put there permanently or not. "I've been looking at it every morning to see if they've put it on permanently. They haven't - it's still a temporary piece of paper (name on the honours boards)," he said.
India defeated England by 151 runs and took a crucial 1-0 lead in the five-match Test series on Monday (August 16). The next Test match will be played at Headingley from August 25.
