Indian bowlers were at their best as they bowled England out for 303 in their second innings of the ongoing first Test in Trent Bridge.

Former England skipper Michael Vaughan was not happy with the English batting unit and urged team management to drop Zak Crawley and Dom Sibley from the team for the second Test match, to be played at Lord's.

Crawley scored a 0 and 6 along with Sibley who got 18 and 28 in both innings respectively. In his latest interaction with BBC Test Match Special, Vaughan made it clear that Crawley should not be a part of the second Test but he could go to Australia for the upcoming Ashes later this year.

“Zak Crawley could be a high-class Test match player but he’s not got enough runs. I wouldn’t play Crawley at Lord’s but he could well go to Australia. He could suit going out of this environment for a while, play some different formats, iron out his technique. It could refresh him,” Vaughan told BBC Test Match Special.

The Englishman then talked about the opening batsman Dom Sibley staying in the team considering how bowlers are able to control him.

“Dom Sibley has done enough to stay in the side but you wonder how much further he can progress. He just can’t go up through the gears and the bowlers are able to control him,” the right-hand batsman said.

The 46-year-old then said how he would bring in Haseeb Hameed for Zak Crawley and expressed displeasure over Dawid Malan not being included in England’s Test set-up.

“I would bring Haseeb Hameed in for Zak Crawley. I’d also bring Dawid Malan in but he’s clearly not in England’s Test plans. Dan Lawrence has the ability to hit some high-quality shots but you certainly wouldn’t mind bowling to him early on in his innings with that technique,” Vaughan concluded.

As far as the first Test match is concerned, India needs 157 runs to win on Day 5 to go 1-0 up in this five-match Test series.
