Shakib Al Hasan, Mitchell Marsh, and Hayden Walsh Jr nominated for July's ICC Player of the Month award

Mitchell Marsh, Shakib Al Hasan and Hayden Walsh | ICCThe International Cricket Council (ICC) on Sunday announced the July nominees for the ICC Player of the Month awards.

In the men’s category, Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh, Mitchell Marsh of Australia, and Hayden Walsh Jr of West Indies were nominated, while in the women’s category, Hayley Matthews (WI), Fatima Sana (PAK), and Stafanie Taylor (WI) were shortlisted.

Shakib Al Hasan had been amazing with both the ball and bat against Zimbabwe last month. He had scored 96* in the second ODI at the Harare Sports Club. He picked a fifer in the first ODI and overall claimed 8 wickets in the series. In the only Test, Shakib took a total of 5 wickets.

Mitchell Marsh was nominated for his amazing batting performance against West Indies in the Caribbean. Marsh amassed 219 runs in five T20Is at an average of 43.80 that included three half-centuries and then picked 8 wickets at an economy of 6.76.  He was the leading run-scorer and wicket-taker for Australia.

West Indies leg-spinner Hayden Walsh Jr was the toast of the five T20I matches and three one-day international matches against Australia. He never went wicketless in the entire series ending as the leading wicket-taker for the West Indies in both the ODIs and T20Is – 7 wickets in ODIs, which included his maiden five-wicket haul and 12 scalps in T20Is.

Meanwhile, in the women’s category, the ICC nominated Hayley Matthews (WI), Fatima Sana (PAK), and Stafanie Taylor (WI).

In the same ODI series, Fatima Sana was the leading wicket-taker for Pakistan. A maiden five-wicket haul from Fatima Sana helped Pakistan defeat West Indies by 22 runs via the DLS method in the fifth ODI of the series.

West Indies women’s captain Stafanie Taylor contributed with both bat and ball as the West Indies won both their ODI and T20I series against Pakistan in July. In the four ODIs against Pakistan, Stafanie scored 175 runs with a strike rate of 79.18 and took three wickets with an economy rate of 3.72.
