Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra in his latest YouTube video expressed his displeasure as he felt that Team India missed a trick on Day 3 of the first Test match against England at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
After getting a sizable lead of 95 runs over hosts in the first innings, Chopra felt India should’ve opened the bowling with his best bowlers Mohammad Shami and Jasprit Bumrah instead of Mohammed Siraj before Tea on Friday (6 August).
“95 run lead is sizeable, it's not a huge lead but it's not bad either. But after that, I was slightly disappointed because why didn't they start with Bumrah and Shami? It was just a six-over spell before Tea and that's when you have to crack it,” Chopra said in his latest YouTube video.

The 43-year-old then talked about how the pacers should’ve tried to bowl from the over-the-stumps angle to mix things up a bit as well.
“Nothing against Siraj, I love him but starting with your best bowlers could have been the wiser thing to do. Even after Tea, it just kept rotating plus there was too much bowling from around the stumps, they had to try a bit from over the stumps as well,” the cricketer-turned-commentator further added.
England on the other hand after bowling out India for 278 runs, came out to bat and openers Rory Burns (11*) and Dom Subley (9*) made sure that the home team does not lose any quick wickets and ended Day 3 without losing any wickets.
The English openers also chipped off some of the visitors’ lead as they trailed India by 70 runs at Stumps.
