Ravindra Jadeja celebrates his half-century | GettyResuming their first innings on 125/4, Team India scored 278 to take a significant lead of 95 runs over England on Day 3 of the ongoing first Test at Trent Bridge.

KL Rahul (57*) and Rishabh Pant (7*) were at the crease when the action started but the visitors lost the latter on 25.

Afterwards, Rahul joined hands with all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and the duo added 60 runs for the sixth wicket to ensure India’s lead in the first inning.

Veteran pacer James Anderson, who had dismissed Cheteshwar Pujara (4) and Virat Kohli (0) cheaply on Day 2, broke the partnership by removing Rahul on 84 off 214 balls (12 fours).

Jadeja, however, held the one end firmly and kept the scoreboard ticking. He shared a crucial 27-run stand with Mohammad Shami for the eighth wicket and completed his half-century in the process as well.

Ollie Robinson got rid of Jadeja but not before the southpaw slammed 56 off 86 balls, including 8 fours and 1 six.

Thanks to Jasprit Bumrah’s handy 28 and a 33-run partnership for the last week between him and Mohammed Siraj (7*), the tourists finished with 278/10 on the board in 84.5 overs.

For his vital knock, Ravindra Jadeja garnered rich praised from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.
