Former Pakistan cricketer Salman Butt praised KL Rahul for his seriousness and love towards Test cricket. The Indian batsman had recently said that he's willing to wait for his turn in the Test side.
Rahul hasn't played a Test match for India since 2019 and he's currently part of the Indian squad on England tour. India tried him as a wicket-keeper batsman in the three-day warm-up match against Select County XI in the absence of Rishabh Pant. He scored a hundred in the practice match ahead of the Test series against England.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Butt said he was happy to see Rahul making a positive statement towards his comeback in the cricket. “I recently read KL Rahul’s article and I was pleased to see that some players love red-ball cricket like it should be loved. He said that he played red-ball cricket after a long time, scored runs, and spent time out in the middle. He made very positive statements about his possible Test comeback and how he worked on his game when he was not playing the Test format,” he said.
Butt added that Rahul is a stylish player and listening to him makes him feel like the right-hander is focused on a return to the Test side.
“There is no doubt that he is a very attractive, good-looking player. KL Rahul is a very effective batsman. He has played some very good knocks with Rohit Sharma in white-ball cricket. Listening to him, it seems like he means business. KL Rahul’s attitude towards the game is very positive. Let’s see what he does when his time comes (in Test cricket),” he further said.
The Indian cricket team is coming from a loss in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand. They have a good opportunity to start the second edition of the WTC on a positive note in the Test series against England, which begins on August 4 in Nottingham.
