Indian cricket team will be reportedly free from a controlled bio-secure environment in England once the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand, starting on June 18 in Southampton wraps up, as their next Test assignment will be one and half months later.

A member of Team India, who is leaving for Southampton on June 2, Thursday morning for the more than three-month-long UK tour, revealed that there will be no need for the bio-bubble after the WTC Final against New Zealand and they will re-enter the controlled environment before the England Test.

After the WTC 2021 Final against New Zealand in Southampton, India will play a five-match Test series against the hosts England in August-September – which will be played in a “safe living environment” but not a bio-bubble like the upcoming Test series between England and New Zealand.

A team member told Cricbuzz on Wednesday (June 1): “The bubble will be go (after WTC final) and we will be free of the restrictions. There is no need for a bubble in England. If required, we will enter a bubble before the Test series starts (on August 4).”

However, the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) didn't mandate but the Indian team may still have to go inside a bio-bubble at some point during the Test series in England.

Meanwhile, the family members of the players and support staff have also reportedly got visas to travel to the UK along with the Indian cricket team. On Tuesday (June 1), the UK government has given clearance to the families of Indian players and coaches. They will set sail on June 3.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is also reportedly planning for a bubble-to-bubble transfer for the players and coaches from the UK to the UAE for the second phase of the IPL 2021.
