The cricket fans and experts are eagerly waiting for India’s tour to England, where Virat Kohli and his men will play the World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand (June 18-22) followed by five-Test series against the hosts (August 4-September 14).
While the Indian contingent will depart for UK on June 2, the players – barring those from Mumbai –have started their 14-day quarantine in Mumbai on May 19.
The Mumbai-based cricketers entered the bio-bubble on Monday (May 24) and the group led by Kohli is serving quarantine separately. They will join the rest of the squad before taking the charter to England.
"Kohli and the rest of the members who entered the bubble on Monday will not straightaway mix with those who are already in the bubble. They will do a 7-day quarantine and then join the group before leaving for England. Till then, they will have all the necessary facilities in their rooms only," sources in the know of developments told ANI.
The source further added that arrangements have been made for the players to workout in their rooms.
"Arrangements have been made so that they can train in the room. Cycles, dumbbells, bars have all been arranged for in the rooms so that they doesn't need to walk out and can stay in shape," he said.
When enquired about the COVID-19 testing plans for the Mumbai-based players, the source said: "They will undergo tests every day. We don't wish to keep anything to chance."
Team India members have already received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine in India and they will get their second dose in England.
"The team has already taken the first dose here after the government opened the vaccination process for all above 18. The second dose will be administered by the UK health department once the players are eligible to get the second jab as per rules," BCCI sources had told ANI.
After landing in UK, Team India will undergo another 10-day isolation before they resume training for the WTC final.
