ENG v IND 2021: “He is doing fine”, KL Rahul expected to fly with India’s Test squad for England tour

Rahul underwent surgery after being diagnosed with acute appendicitis during the now-suspended IPL 2021.

KL Rahul | GettyIndia batsman KL Rahul’s recovery process is well on track as he is most likely to travel to England with the rest of the national team on June 2.

During the now-suspended IPL 2021, Rahul underwent surgery after being diagnosed with acute appendicitis.

Earlier this month, selectors named him in the Indian squad for England tour but his availability is subject to fitness clearance.

"He is doing fine and has recovered well as far as I know. He should be travelling to England with the team," a source close to the player told IANS.

"There is still time, about a month before the start of the World Test Championship final against New Zealand and another one-and-a-half month before the start of five-Test series against England. The Indian team has done this before too, taken injured Wriddhiman Saha to Australia last year and made him do rehab with the team," added the source.

Rahul, who led Punjab Kings in the IPL 2021 before the tournament got postponed due to COVID-19 cases inside bio-bubbles, had shared a picture on social media two days ago, which showed that he was recovering well.

KL Rahul was also part of the Test squad in Australia but didn’t get a chance in the playing XI despite injury issues in the Indian team. His last outing in the longest format was in August-September 2019 against West Indies in Kingston.
