'First 7 to 10 days were really tough' - Kuldeep Yadav on India's World Cup 2023 final loss

India lost the World Cup final to Australia in Ahmedabad.

Kuldeep Yadav | GettyAce India spinner Kuldeep Yadav revealed his emotions after the Men in Blue lost the ICC World Cup 2023 final to Australia in Ahmedabad on November 19.

India had qualified for the summit clash on the back of 10 consecutive wins but failed to get past Australia when it mattered the most.

He stated that it took almost ten days to move past the defeat against the Pat Cummins-led side. Just like all his teammates he also took more time to digest the loss.

"Starting was really difficult. The first 7 to 10 days were really tough. Whenever I woke up, the thought of losing the World Cup final was haunting me. But life changes and moves on. I got an opportunity to play in South Africa, I last played here in 2018 so I knew the conditions well. In cricket what you want never happens and you have to learn from them and implement those in future matches," Kuldeep said after the final T20I between India and South Africa.

India had been asked to bat first by Australia captain Pat Cummins in Ahmedabad. Rohit Sharma made 47 runs to give India a flying start. However, after being 80/2 in 10 overs, India could only make 240 runs in 50 overs despite half-centuries from Virat Kohli and KL Rahul.

Then in response, Travis Head made 137 and Marnus Labuschagne made 55* as Australia cruised home by 6 wickets and lifted their sixth Cricket World Cup trophy.
