Rohit Sharma | GettyRohit Sharma is leading the Indian team from the front in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. Under his leadership, the Men in Blue have qualified for the final without losing a single match in the league stage.

Opening the innings, Rohit has batted with fearless approach in the marquee event, amassing 550 runs from 10 innings at an impressive average of 55 and a remarkable strike rate of 124.15, including one hundred and three fifties.

India are scheduled to face five-time champions Australia in the summit clash in Ahmedabad on Sunday (November 19).

Ahead of the final, veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has picked Rohit Sharma as the ‘Most Valuable Player’ of this World Cup.

“The MVP for me is Rohit Sharma. He has given great starts. He has just shown the template as to how it needs to be done. As a skipper, he has been brilliant as well,” said Karthik while speaking to Cricbuzz.

Karthik also lauded KL Rahul’s performance as a wicketkeeper right through the tournament, insisting that the latter could play a crucial role in the final as well.

Rahul has taken 15 catches behind the stumps in this World Cup. He has also scored 386 runs from nine innings.

“His wicketkeeping has been outstanding. You have to say it has been one of the best in the tournament. I said Scott Edwards before purely for keeping skills but as an all-round package, KL Rahul has gone ahead of Quinton de Kock. He has played all types of knocks. I believe he can play a very, very crucial role in the final,” Karthik added.

India have been the most dominant side in this World Cup, winning all their nine games in the league stage to qualify for the semi-final, where they defeated New Zealand by 70 runs.

On the other hand, Australia started their campaign with two successive defeats before registering eight wins on the trot to make it to the grand finale. In the semi-final, the Aussies edged past South Africa by three wickets in a low-scoring affair at the Eden Gardens.
