CWC 2023: India playing as a unit, Australia relying on individual brilliance – Harbhajan Singh ahead of World Cup final

The Rohit Sharma-led side is yet to lose a match in the ongoing World Cup.

The journey of the two teams for the final has been quite different. While the Rohit Sharma-led side is yet to lose a match in the competition, Australia started their campaign with two successive defeats before registering eight wins on the trot to make it to the grand finale.

Ahead of the marquee fixture, legendary spinner Harbhajan Singh has said that India are winning as a unit while the Aussies are relying on individual brilliance in this World Cup.

“Australians have come through individual brilliance, and that's how they have won games. They have not played well as a team. You know, normally Australians play as a unit like India is playing. So that is where India has the advantage, because they are playing as a unit,” said Harbhajan while speaking to India Today.

“Individual brilliance can probably win you a game or two. But when you want to win a cup, you have to have perform like Team India. All the batters are in form. All the bowlers are in form. And more than that, they look happy. A happy unit is a winning unit. So, I believe that India is a superior team going into the final,” he added.

Notably, India have been the most dominant side in this World Cup. The Men in Blue defeated all their nine opponents in the league stage to qualify for the semi-final, where they outplayed New Zealand to register a comprehensive 70-run victory.

However, India haven’t won an ICC tournament for the last 10 years. After the Champions Trophy triumph in 2013, the team has lost as many as four ICC event finals and bowed out in the semi-finals on numerous occasions.

It remains to be seen whether Rohit Sharma’s men manage to end the global title drought or not.
