CWC 2023: World Cup winning captains to be honored with special blazer during IND v AUS final- Report

MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev are expected to be present at the ceremony in Ahmedabad.

MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev | XThe BCCI is leaving no stone unturned to make the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final to be played in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium a spectacle of the highest order. India and Australia will clash on November 19, 2023, for the CWC trophy.

Reports have stated that the final will be attended by Indian PM Narendra Modi himself and multiple former Indian cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and more. Apart from this, a host of Indian movie industry legends such as Amitabh Bachchan, Rajnikanth, Venkatesh, and more will be in attendance.

A musical extravaganza featuring Pritam, Aaditya Ghadvi, and Dua Lipa will entertain the crowd along with Indian Air Force’s Surya Kiran aerobatic team performing aerial stunts as the special attraction.

And now has been reported that the BCCI will honor and felicitate several Cricket World Cup-winning captains with a special blazer in Ahmedabad on Sunday. The facilitation will take place after the end of the first innings in the 2023 World Cup final.

The likes of MS Dhoni, Kapil Dev, Ricky Ponting, Clive Lloyd, Allan Border, Eoin Morgan, and Arjuna Ranatunga are to be presented with special blazers. Pakistan's 1992 World Cup-winning captain Imran Khan will miss out as he is currently imprisoned back home.

The ceremony will also feature short clips of the captains guiding their sides to World Cup glory, before a short question-answer session.

Both the finalists are multiple-time World Cup winners with Australia winning in 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, and 2015 and India winning in 1983 and 2011. This is the second time India is clashing with Australia in the final after the 2003 World Cup.
