India and South Africa are currently facing each other in Match 37 of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
Opting to bat first, the Men in Blue posted a massive 326/5 on the board, courtesy of Virat Kohli’s record-equalling 49th ODI ton (101*) and Shreyas Iyer’s half-century (77).
In reply, the Proteas were reduced to 67/7 in 18.4 overs. Ravindra Jadeja was the wrecker-in-chief with the ball as the left-arm spinner took four of those wickets.
He was also brilliant with the review. During the 13th over of the chase, Jadeja’s delivery struck Heinrich Klaasen’s pads and made a big appeal. However, on-field umpire Kumar Dharmasena turned it down as it looked like the ball did not turn enough from the around-the-wicket angle to the right-handed batter.
Jadeja was so confident that he tried to convince skipper Rohit Sharma to take the DRS. Wicketkeeper KL Rahul was not sure and left it for the captain to decide.
As the 15-second timer was on, Rohit took a cheeky dig at Jadeja before opting for the review.
"Yahi ek batsman hai b******," Rohit Sharma was caught saying on the stump mic.
