Shubman Gill fell agonizingly close to a maiden ODI World Cup 2023 century as he was dismissed for 92 runs in the ongoing CWC match against Sri Lanka in Mumbai on November 2.

Asked to bat first by Sri Lanka, India lost Rohit Sharma for 4 runs on the second ball of the match. But then Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli counterattacked and kept the scoring rate over 6 throughout their 30-over partnership which yielded 189 runs.

Shubman Gill looked in complete command hitting 11 fours and 2 sixes in his 92-ball 92-run knock. He looked good for a century, but instead was surprised by Dilshan Madushanka's short ball and was caught behind.
