India captain Rohit Sharma failed to give the team a good start in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 match against Sri Lanka in Mumbai on November 2.
Sri Lanka captain Kusal Mendis won the toss and chose to bowl first. The Islanders made one change as Dushan Hemantha came in for Dhananjaya de Silva, while India came into the match with the same XI.
Rohit Sharma started the match well, as he cracked a silken four off the first ball of the match by Dilshan Madushanka. However, the bowler roared back in style. Madushanka rolled the fingers over the ball while bowling the next ball and it deviated just enough to beat Rohit Sharma’s bat and uprooted his off-stump.

Not only was the crowd at the Wankhede Stadium silent at Rohit’s cheap dismissal, but his wife Ritika Sajdeh also was left shocked and distraught at the dismissal and the person sitting besides her had to console her.
