Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik hailed Ajay Jadeja after Afghanistan stunned Pakistan in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on October 23.
Jadeja is presently working as Afghanistan's mentor in the CWC 2023, and his inputs really worked wonders for the team, as they registered memorable wins over world champions teams England and Pakistan in the ongoing World Cup 2023.
Tendulkar and Malik felt the former Indian cricketer was the mastermind behind Afghanistan’s memorable performance in the ongoing tournament. Afghanistan defeated Pakistan in ODIs for the first time when they stunned the Men in Green by 8 wickets in Chennai.
Sachin Tendulkar wrote on X: “Afghanistan's performance at this World Cup has been nothing short of outstanding. Their discipline with the bat, the temperament they've shown, and aggressive running between the wickets reflect their hard work.
It could be due to a certain Mr. Ajay Jadeja's influence. ????With a formidable bowling lineup, their victories over teams like England and Pakistan indicate the emergence of a new Afghanistan team. The cricket world is taking note. ???? Well done!”
Meanwhile, Shoaib Malik said that Jadeja's sharp mind played a key role in Afghanistan playing the attacking brand of cricket in the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023 in India.
Malik said on news channel 'A Sports': “I have seen Ajay Jadeja sitting in their dugout. I have worked with him during the 2015 World Cup for one of the channels in India. Great cricketing mind. Absolutely! Having the right people around you or around the team does matter.”
Notably, Jadeja was also part of India’s famous India win over Pakistan in the 1996 World Cup quarterfinal at Bengaluru. Jadeja had played a match-winning knock of 45 runs in that match.
