Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul opened up about his skipper Rohit Sharma's mindset and his approach to batting after the team’s fourth straight win in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Rahul said that Rohit doesn't step onto the field with the sole intent of attacking bowlers. He also praised the senior opener’s batting prowess, explaining that once he finds a few boundaries with classic shots, he gains control over the bowlers.

Hailing Rohit's ability to maintain balance while striking the ball effectively, Rahul said that the Indian captain’s power-packed performances during the powerplay eased the pressure on the middle order.

Notably, Rohit is in great form with the bat in the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023, where he has so far amassed 265 runs in four matches for India.

KL Rahul told Star Sports:I don't think Rohit walks in with that mindset, that he wants to take bowlers down. He's in good nick. He's been a phenomenal player over the years and he knows how to pace his innings. And once he gets off a few boundaries, then he knows how to get on top of the bowlers and he's just done that with proper cricket shots here.”

He continued, “You don't see him slogging the ball or you don't see him innovating. You know, he plays proper cricket shots and stays balanced and hits the ball. And when you have batters like that going really hard in the power play, then it just becomes a bit more easier for us in the middle order.”

Rahul signed off by saying, “Especially in the last few games when we have chased, I had to walk in with 60 runs and to get 60 runs in 151, 160 balls so that he makes our job a bit easier and all the rest of the team going forward.”
