Former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator Irfan Pathan lauded the remarkable and aggressive leadership of Team India’s skipper Rohit Sharma during the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

Hailing Rohit’s captaincy style, the former Indian all-rounder lauded the Indian skipper for his fearless and proactive approach to the game, which has added a new dimension to India's strategies in the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023.

Ahead of India’s next match against Bangladesh on October 19, Pathan insisted that Rohit’s captaincy style has been the most aggressive among all captains participating in the CWC 2023.

The right-hander has not only shouldered the responsibilities as the team's captain but also showcased his extraordinary talent with the bat, and Pathan should be commended for the same.

Irfan Pathan said on Star Sports: “It is his timing. He is in very good form. The way he is leaving deliveries, it means he is not just coming and playing carelessly in the nets, and just playing the big shots. He is going with full confidence into the practice but is still respecting the balls that need to be respected, but Rohit Sharma has adopted the most aggressive approach among all captains in this World Cup, which is not easy.”

He added, “We won't get tired of praising him because he deserves praise considering the responsibility he has shouldered. He is playing shots extremely easily. You might see defensive as well as big shots in practice, but he will keep his attacking approach in the match.”

The former Indian cricketer is expecting a fourth win for the Indian team at the ongoing CWC 2023, when they will take on Bangladesh in Pune on Thursday.

Pathan signed off by saying, “All batters and bowlers you saw in practice, they were looking in great control when they were practicing and I was seeing them on the ground as well. They were relaxed and played foot volleyball for half an hour before the Pakistan match.”

India is currently topping the World Cup 2023 points table with six points from three matches and a net run-rate of +1.821.
