Raina has played cricket with both MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma for a long time and knows their leadership styles as well. MS Dhoni led India in the 2011 World Cup to victory and in the semi-finals in the 2015 tournament. He also led India to the T20 World Cup 2007 win and the ICC Champions Trophy win in 2013.

Currently, Rohit Sharma is captaining India in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 and the Men in Blue have won their first three matches. They have defeated Australia, Afghanistan, and arch-rivals Pakistan. Their next encounter will be against Bangladesh on October 19 in Pune.

Ahead of that tie, Suresh Raina heaped praise on Rohit Sharma for his captaincy in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 and said that players in the Indian team respect Rohit the same way they did for MS Dhoni.

Whenever I use to talk with players they use to say Rohit has the same respect as Dhoni – Rohit has been very friendly in the dressing room. I would say he is the next MS Dhoni for the Indian cricket team. I have seen him, he is calm, he likes to listen, he likes to give confidence to the players, and on top of that, he likes to lead from the front.

When the captain leads from the front and at the same time, he gives respect to the dressing room atmosphere, you know you have it all," Raina told India Today.

Rohit Sharma is also in prime form having hit a century against Afghanistan, and a scintillating 86 against Pakistan.
