Former Mumbai cricketer Amol Muzumdar has lauded Team India captain Rohit Sharma's remarkable leadership in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Muzumdar said that Rohit’s captaincy style is different from others and he has a magical touch in him as a leader.

Under Rohit's intelligent leadership, the Indian cricket team won three successive matches against Australia, Afghanistan, and Pakistan in the league stage at the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023.

Muzumdar's analysis of Rohit Sharma's captaincy underlines three key elements. Muzumdar shed light on the first aspect which is Rohit's leadership is very data and statistics driven.

Amol Muzumdar said on Star Sports’ show “Follow the Blues”: “I want to highlight 3 things about his captaincy. The first one is, Rohit Sharma gives a lot of weightage and importance to data and statistics. This includes one of the most important part of his planning; he believes that it is very important to know each and every minute details and statistics of all the opposition players.”

The second standout feature of Rohit's leadership, as highlighted by Muzumdar, is the relaxed and simplicity-driven atmosphere he fosters within the Indian contingent. He also said that there is clear communication between the players, and it ensures that the players perform at their best.

Muzumdar continued, “The second one is, he keeps things very simple and try to make his team members to think simple. He keeps everyone in the team in a very cool and calm atmosphere. His style of captaincy is a bit different from others; he talks very politely and in a very lovable way with his players, thus keeping things in a very easy and simple manner.”

The third point that Muzumdar shared was highlighting Rohit's 'magical touch,' attributing the success of the Mumbai Indians in the IPL to this unique quality. He opined that the changes brought about by the Mumbai Indians' captain often turned out to be beneficial, leading the team to secure five IPL titles under his leadership.

He signed off by saying, “And, the third one, which is the most important point, is that he has that magical touch in him. Whatever changes he makes, that comes out like a magical touch, like for example, Mumbai Indians got that magical touch in their team after Rohit Sharma became their captain. He also has five IPL titles in his name. I hope 2023 will take his magical touch.”

India will next face Bangladesh in Pune on October 19.
