CWC 2023: Cricket fraternity reacts as India make it 8-0 vs Pakistan in World Cup after Rohit and bowlers outclass arch-rivals

Rohit Sharma took the Pakistani bowling attack to the cleaners | GettyTeam India kept their World Cup winning streak against Pakistan intact as they annihilated the arch-rivals by seven wickets in Match 12 of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Saturday (October 14).

Asked to bat first, Pakistan’s innings folded for a below-par 191 in 42.5 overs. The Men in Green were 155/2 at one stage but suffered a collapse that saw them lose eight wickets for just 36 runs.  

Pacer Jasprit Bumrah starred with the ball for India, claiming two wickets by conceding only 19 runs in his seven overs. Mohammed Siraj, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja also picked up a couple of scalps each.

In reply, the hosts lost Shubman Gill (16) and Virat Kohli (16) early but skipper Rohit Sharma rose to the occasion, slamming 86 off 63 balls with 6 fours and as many sixes.

After Rohit’s dismissal, Shreyas Iyer (53*) and KL Rahul (19*) completed the formalities and took India over the line with 117 deliveries to spare.

Cricket fraternity lauded Rohit Sharma and his men for their clinical performance in the big match and making it 8-0 versus Pakistan in the World Cup.
