Australia and South Africa clashed in Match 10 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Thursday (October 12) in Lucknow. In a one-sided clash, South Africa annihilated Australia by 134 runs to top the points table with two wins from two games.

Australia won the toss and chose to bowl first, as wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock batted outstandingly well to score his second successive hundred in the tournament. De Kock's 109, Aiden Markram's 56 and valuable contributions down the order helped the Proteas to finish with 311/7 in their 50 overs. Mitchell Starc and Glenn Maxwell took two wickets each for Australia.

Australia would have fancied their chances but the South African pacers led by Kagiso Rabada, who bowled a fiery spell, left Australia reeling at 70/6. Marnus Labuschagne with 46, and cameos by Mitchell Starc (27) and Pat Cummins (22) only delayed the inevitable as Australia were bowled out for 177 to lose by 134 runs.

Kagiso Rabada (3/33) was the most successful bowler, while Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, and Tabraiz Shamsi bagged two wickets each.
