CWC 2023: Pakistan media claims presenter Zainab Abbas deported from India over anti-Hindu tweets- Report

Abbas was accused of making derogatory remarks on X in some old tweets.

Zainab Abbas | XPakistani sports presenter, Zainab Abbas, has been reportedly deported from India over her old tweets which were allegedly Hinduphobic in nature. Abbas was in India to cover the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 which got underway on October 5.

As per Samaa TV report, an Indian lawyer named Vineet Jindal had filed a complaint with the BCCI against the 35-year-old Abbas after some of her alleged anti-Hindu posts from a few years ago on Twitter (now X) resurfaced.

"Complaint letter sent by @vineetJindal19 to @BCCI and @HMOIndia seeking removal of Zainab Abbas @ZAbbasOfficial as the presenter at the  ICC  World Cup 2023 for her derogatory and provocative posts against Bharat and Hindu Dharma. “Athiti devo bhava” only for those who respect our country & Hindu Dharma but Anti Bharatiya are not welcome on Our Land,” the lawyer posted.

Zainab Abbas has categorically denied the allegations and maintains that she has been unjustly targeted. Sources close to her assert that she has been falsely accused and that her past social media activity was taken out of context.

They argue that Zainab's tweets from years ago were unrelated to her work as a presenter and should not have led to her deportation from India. Samaa TV also reported that Abbas is now in Dubai.
