CWC 2023: Cricket fraternity lauds Indian bowlers including Ravindra Jadeja as Australia restricted to 199

Australia captain Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bat first. Australia played three pacers and one specialist spinner Adam Zampa.

Rohit Sharma revealed that Ishan Kishan will open with him as Shubman Gill is still unwell after contracting dengue. India went with three spinners Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and R Ashwin.

Mitchell Marsh fell for a duck to Jasprit Bumrah, but then Steve Smith and David Warner (41) added 69 runs for the second wicket. Warner fell to Kuldeep Yadav, who dismissed him caught, and bowled.

But the real star for India was Ravindra Jadeja as he dismissed Smith (46), Marnus Labuschagne (27) and Alex Carey (0) in quick succession. He finished with figures of 3/28 in his 10 over. Australia was 165/8 at one stage in 43 overs.

But Mitchell Starc’s 28 managed to take Australia to a final score of 199 runs.

Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep took two wickets each, while Siraj, Hardik, and Ashwin took one wicket.

The cricket fraternity was all praises for Indian bowling including Ravindra Jadeja which kept the five-time World Champions to a low total in their opening match of the World Cup.
