CWC 2023: Netizens have fun as South Africa’s Temba Bavuma falls asleep during Captains’ Day press event

Captains of all 10 teams faced the press on the eve of the ICC World Cup 2023.

Temba Bavuma was sound alseep at the press event | Star Sports X ScreengrabThe BCCI and ICC organized a Captains’ Day event in Ahmedabad a day before the ICC World Cup 2023 begins on October 5. Captains of all the 10 participating teams were present on the dais and fielded questions from the reporters.

But a funny moment happened during the press conference as South Africa captain Temba Bavuma, seemingly fell asleep on the stage itself. While other captains sat in pairs on the couch, Temba Bavuma was sitting alone on a chair and he decided to make the most of it.

Notably, Bavuma had missed the warm-up matches due to personal reasons and flown to India from South Africa only recently. And while the South Africa team was in Delhi preparing for the first match, their captain had to fly to Ahmedabad for the event.

During the event, Temba Bavuma spoke about South African players’ experience of playing in India. Several Proteas players have IPL contracts and extensive experience of playing in the country.

CWC 2023: “Don’t have Twitter or Instagram on my phone for past 9 months,” says Rohit Sharma ahead of World Cup

He said: “It is something relevant to all the teams lot of the teams have guys who play in India and have done well in India I wouldn’t really say it is an advantage for us all we can really do is guys who have that experience and knowledge they can share it amongst teams or use it in terms of strength and plans I wouldn’t say it is an advantage unique to us as a team.”

However, all the attention from the Captains’ Day presser was stolen by Bavuma who was soundly taking a nap and the netizens just couldn’t keep themselves from having fun at his expense.

Here are some of the funny reactions to Bavuma’s nap on the stage:
