Indian captain Rohit Sharma was a handy bowler when he started his career, and he even impressed many with his right-arm off-spin bowling for Team India and in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Interestingly, Rohit achieved a rare feat by taking a hat-trick for Deccan chargers during the 2009 IPL against the Mumbai Indians. However, he hasn’t bowled regularly in more than seven years.
Notably, Rohit last bowled for India in an ODI match in 2016, but since 2012, the right-hander has bowled in only four ODIs in his career. When it comes to the IPL, the Indian skipper has not been seen rolling the arm since 2014 but has bowled only seven balls in the 2021 season.
Well, it is surprising for many that, being a good off-spinner, he has stopped bowling even though the Indian team lacks all-rounders.

Ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023, Rohit Sharma revealed the reason behind stopping bowling in the game. Rohit revealed that injury is the reason behind him not taking the ball because he doesn’t want that to affect his batting, but he can resume his bowling duty.
Rohit Sharma said in an interview with YouTuber Vimal Kumar: “I feel a little discomfort on my finger while bowling and I don't want that problem to affect my batting. But I am still trying, I bowl sometimes in the nets, let's see what happens.”
Notably, India will face the Netherlands in their second and final World Cup 2023 warm-up match on Tuesday, October 3. They will face Australia in Chennai on October 8 in their opening match in mega event.
