Former Australia all-rounder and two-time World Cup winner Tom Moody has unveiled his Indian squad for the ICC World Cup 2023 tournament. India will host the tournament which begins on October 5 with the Men in Blue facing Australia in their tournament opener on October 8 in Chennai.
Moody’s predicted Indian squad is mostly on an expected line with a star-studded batting lineup featuring captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shubman Gill and he picked Shreyas Iyer as well. Moody also picked two wicketkeepers in the squad Ishan Kishan and the returning KL Rahul.
In what can be termed as a surprise, Moody omitted Suryakumar Yadav from his list of batters picked for the World Cup and also didn’t go with Sanju Samson, leaving the Indian team with just 7 batters.
Alongside Akshar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya is the prime all-rounder of the team, and Shardul Thakur for support. The spin department featured two wrist spinners in Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal.
As for the pace bowling unit, Moody went with Mohammed Siraj, Mohammad Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah to boost.
