Asia Cup 2023: “Well played Team India,” PM Modi congratulates Rohit Sharma and his men on Asia Cup title win

In the summit clash, the Men in Blue bundled out the hosts for a paltry 50 in 15.2 overs on the back of Mohammed Siraj’s six-wicket haul (6/21). Hardik Pandya (3/3) and Jasprit Bumrah (1/23) shared the remaining four scalps between them.

In reply, Shubman Gill (27*) and Ishan Kishan (23*) made light work of the chase to take India over the line in just 6.1 overs.

Congratulations messages flooded social media after India’s Asia Cup title triumph. Rohit Sharma and his men’s extraordinary effort was also lauded by India’s honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi wrote: “Well played Team India! Congratulations on winning the Asia Cup. Our players have shown remarkable skill through the tournament.”

The triumphant Asia Cup 2023 campaign showed that India’s preparation for the upcoming ODI World Cup is on track.

India will open their World Cup campaign against Australia in Chennai on October 8. Prior to the quadrennial event, they will host Australia in a three-match ODI series from September 22 to September 27.
