The Asia Cup 2023 Super 4s match between India and Pakistan was spread over two days and on the reserve day, Men in Blue batters had a merry time on September 11.
India resumed their innings from 147/2 and had good news that Haris Rauf would not be bowling further in the innings due to a side strain. This meant Babar Azam was left to find a sixth bowler who could step up.
However, after a few precautionary overs, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul both switched gears and went after the Pakistani bowlers. The part-time spin of Iftikhar Ahmed was punished and an in-disciplined Shaheen Afridi leaked runs as well.
India plundered 209 runs in the remaining overs as Rahul and Kohli added 233* runs for the third wicket.
Rahul brought up his 6th ODI ton in 100 balls and remained unbeaten on 111, while Virat Kohli scored his 47th ODI ton and also passed the 13,000-run mark in the format. He scored 122* as India posted 356/2 in 50 overs.
After the match, KL Rahul’s wife Athiya Shetty took to Instagram and shared a heartfelt message for Rahul, along with a short clip of the moment he reached his century.
Athiya posted: “Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise… You are everything, I love you. #1”
On the other hand, Virat Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma also shared a special message for the former India captain on Instagram.
Anushka wrote: “Super knock, super guy!!”
