Kohli has dominated ODI cricket more than anyone else since his debut in 2008.

However, Kohli has dominated ODI cricket more than anyone else since his debut in 2008. In the 50-over format, the star batter has 12898 runs to his name from 275 matches at an average of 57.32 with 46 hundreds and 65 half-centuries.

26 of Virat’s ODI tons have come while chasing down targets. It is a record for the most hundreds scored when batting second.

As Virat Kohli gearing up to take part in the Asia Cup 2023, he expressed his love for ODI cricket, stating that it is the one format that tests a player's game completely.

“I love playing ODI cricket. I think for me, ODI cricket is probably the one format that tests your game completely. Your technique, composure, patience, playing the situation, and playing differently in different phases of the game,” said Kohli while speaking to Star Sports.

“So, I think it tests you as a batsman completely, and I feel the ODI cricket has always brought the best out of me because I like to embrace that challenge and play according to the situation to help my team win. I have always tried to do that, so yeah, as I said, it gives me an opportunity to test myself regularly, all aspects of my batting, and that’s why I really enjoy playing ODI cricket,” he added.

Virat Kohli is only four centuries away from surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of most tons (49) in ODI history and many tip him to break the record by the time the Asia Cup and the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 will come to an end.

Kohli is expected to play a key role for India in both the marquee tournaments. While the Men in Blue will begin their Asia Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan in Pallekele on September 2, they will open their World Cup campaign against five-time champions Australia at Chepauk on October 8.
