The 2023 of edition of Asia Cup will be played in Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

Asia Cup 2023 is scheduled to be played from August 31 to September 17 | GettyThe complete schedule for the 2023 edition of Asia Cup is set to be announced this week. The development comes after a meeting between the representatives of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

On Monday (July 17), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued a media release, sharing some important details from the meeting.

"On Saturday, 15 July, a meeting was held between the PCB and ACC officials in respect of finalising the schedule of the Asia Cup 2023, logistical and organizational arrangements and marketing campaigns,” PCB’s press release stated

“The finalised schedule is likely to be announced during this week. With the opening match scheduled to kick off in Pakistan, the PCB, as the event host, looks forward to welcoming cricket fans from across the world to experience Pakistan’s renowned hospitality,” it added.

Last month, the Asian Cricket Council announced the dates and venues for the Asia Cup 2023, agreeing to PCB’s demand of conducting the continental event with a hybrid model.

The Asia Cup was supposed to be solely hosted by Pakistan, but BCCI refused to travel to the neighbouring country citing a lack of clearance from the government and security reasons.

Subsequently, Najam Sethi – the chairman of the dissolved cricket management committee of the PCB – proposed a hybrid model to host the multi-nation tournament, which was accepted by the ACC members including India.

Following the approval of the hybrid model, the ACC confirmed that four matches will be played in Pakistan and nine in Sri Lanka with the competition to be held from August 31 to September 17.

Earlier, it was reported that the new PCB cricket committee chief Zaka Ashraf would demand for more matches in Pakistan.

However, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal recently made it clear that Pakistan will host only four games in the marquee competition.

"Our secretary met PCB head Zaka Ashraf and the Asia Cup schedule was finalised and it is on course as it was discussed earlier. There will be four games of league stage in Pakistan, followed by 9 games in Sri Lanka including both India versus Pakistan game and in case a third game if both teams play final," Dhumal told news agency PTI.
