Shadab Khan’s collision with Asif Ali | ScreengrabPakistan and Sri Lanka are currently facing each other in the final of the Asia Cup 2022 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday (September 11).

Asked to bat first, Sri Lanka rode on Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s unbeaten 71 off 45 balls to post 170/6 on the board after being reduced to 58/5 at one stage.

While the Pakistani bowlers had the upper hand in the first 10 overs, they were taken to the cleaners in the next 10 overs. Their fielding was also below-par in the latter stage.

In fact, there was also a school boy error as two Pakistan fielders went for the same catch and neither of them saw each other.

The incident happened in the 19th over of Sri Lanka’s innings when Rajapaksa tried to launch Mohammad Hasnain over deep mid-wicket but failed to get the desired connection. It was actually Asif Ali's catch, but Shadab Khan collided with the former, who eventually parried the ball over the fence for six runs.

After the collision, Shadab found himself down in severe pain and he was attended by the medical team.
