Virat Kohli finally got rid of the monkey off his back as the former Indian captain smashed an unbeaten 122 in 61 balls against Afghanistan to help India win the dead-rubber by 101 runs and end their Asia Cup 2022 campaign on a happier note.

Kohli, who opened the innings in absence of the rested Indian captain Rohit Sharma, ended his wait of almost three years to score an international ton, as his last before today came in November, 2019. It was also his maiden T20I ton, beating his previous best of 94* against West Indies.

Kohli struck 12 fours and 6 sixes in a glorious innings that signalled the return of 'King Kohli' whom the world had fallen in love with as he dominated every attack that came in his way. While India had a disappointing tournament, he finished with scores of 35, 59*, 60, 0 and 122*.

India won the game easily by 101 runs with Bhuvneshwar Kumar picking up his T20I career-best figures of 5/4 as Afghanistan ended at 111/8 with Ibrahim Zadran scoring an unbeaten 64.
