Pakistan clinched a one-wicket win over Afghanistan in thrilling fashion on Wednesday (September 7) to reach the final of the Asia Cup 2022. Pakistan's win also took Sri Lanka to the final, while India and Afghanistan were ruled out of contention having lost both their Super-4 matches.

Pakistan, chasing 130 to win, were 118/9 in 18.5 overs with pacers Naseem Shah and Mohammad Hasnain at the crease. Naseem took a single off the final ball of the 19th over bowled by Fareed Ahmad and then smacked two consecutive sixes off Fazalhaq Farooqi on the first two balls of the final over to seal a memorable win for his country.

Naseem had impressed one and all with his raw pace and talent with the ball in the ongoing tournament but no one saw it coming what he achieved with the bat when his team needed it the most against Afghanistan.

Taking to Twitter after the game, Naseem wrote, “Yeh jeet unn sub logon ke naam jou humain hamesha support kartay hain... App sub ki duaon ka bahut shukriya!”

Pakistan will meet Sri Lanka next on Friday in a dress rehersal before the big final on Sunday. Afghanistan and India will conclude their campaign on Thursday in a game with nothing but pride on the line for both teams after getting knocked out.
