Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on August 26, 2022, revealed that pacer Mohammad Wasim has been ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 tournament after suffering from a side strain. He becomes the second fast bowler from Men in Green to miss the tournament after Shaheen Shah Afridi.
PCB released a statement saying that Wasim picked up the injury while bowling in Pakistan’s practice session on Wednesday. The bowler was assessed by the team medical staff, and an MRI scan in Dubai confirmed the diagnosis.
They discussed the findings with the PCB Medical Advisory Committee, while an independent review by a specialist physiotherapist was also pursued. The medical team will carefully monitor Wasim’s rehabilitation and his return to competitive cricket will be reviewed before the England tour to Pakistan.
