Pakistan’s star pacer Shaheen Afridi was ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 and T20I series against England at home due to a knee injury he suffered in the first Test match against Sri Lanka in Galle.

It is a major blow for Pakistan, and almost every Pakistani is talking about the impact of Afridi's absence on the team. There have been many reactions to this from Pakistani cricket experts and media persons.

Now, Shahid Afridi became the latest one to share his opinion on the pacer’s injury. However, the legendary all-rounder had a hilarious take on Shaheen's ruling out of the Asia Cup 2022.

During a question and answer session on Twitter on Sunday (August 21), a fan asked if the former captain could come out of retirement since Shaheen wouldn’t be taking part in the Asia Cup, starting on August 27 in the UAE, which he responded in a hilarious manner.

A Twitter user asked, “Lala, Shaheen is injured, so please come out of retirement.”

To which Afridi replied by saying:  “I told him earlier to not dive since he is a fast bowler and diving could cause injury. But later I realized that even he is an Afridi.”

Apart from Shaheen being injured, Pakistan left out Hassan Ali from their squad for Asia Cup and will now field a fast bowling attack with less experience in the tournament.

Pakistan now has four pacers in Naseem Shah, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Shahnawaz Dahani, and Haris Rauf in the squad for the Asia Cup 2022, where they will face India in their opening clash on August 28.
