Veteran Pakistan speedster Mohammad Amir posted a cryptic tweet after ace pacer Shaheen Afridi was ruled out of the Asia Cup 2022.

Afridi suffered a right knee ligament injury and was advised 4-6 weeks of rest by the medical team. The left-arm seamer was injured during the Test series against Sri Lanka and despite being part of the squad was rested from the ongoing ODI series against the Netherlands. He was expected to make his return during the Asia Cup.

Afridi not being there will be a massive blow for Pakistan as the last time he faced India in the T20 World Cup 2021, he rattled India’s top order and was also awarded Player of the Match.

Following the development, Amir, who has been a great asset for Pakistan, reacted to the news of Afridi's absence from the side and cheekily quipped that he’s unable to understand why his name is trending on Twitter.

“m trending on twitter but why,” Mohammad Amir Tweeted.

His tweet reflects his eagerness to play for the national side again. He also has troubled Indian batters with his left-arm angle in previous encounters.

Notably, Amir had retired from international cricket in 2020 but made himself available for selection last year. He hasn’t been considered by the PCB since then and it remains to be seen if the governing body will draft him as a replacement or not, considering India’s struggle, especially against the left-arm pacers.
