Indian batter KL Rahul is all set to make his comeback to competitive cricket in the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 after around three months. He has been out of action since the IPL 2022 due to injury and health issues.

The right-hander underwent a sports hernia surgery in June, which made him unavailable for selection for the T20I series against South Africa and Ireland. Then, he contracted COVID-19 and failed to take the flight for the West Indies for the recently concluded limited-overs series.

According to PTI, Rahul was in contention to lead the Indian team in three ODIs against Zimbabwe, but he was ruled out of the tour due to a hamstring issue, which raised questions over his participation in the upcoming Asia Cup, to be played from August 27 to September 1 in the UAE.

However, Rahul has been retained as vice-captain for the tournament in the India squad, but his participation totally depends on his fitness test.

According a report in Insidesport, Rahul will be undergoing a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and if he proves his fitness and clears the test, only then he can take the flight with Team India for Dubai.
